We are excited to present our 2018 Winter Tennis Program. We offer classes for all ages and ability levels. If you are unsure of class placement, please give us a call and we will be glad to assist. Online registration is available for all classes below. Our classes are available for drop-ins but we ask that you call 24 hours in advance to ensure proper class size. All classes are conducted in our bubble so weather is not an issue.

We utilize the USTA’s new innovative Red Ball format with a shorter court, smaller racquets and low compression tennis balls. Motor skills and hand eye coordination are the primary focus using a variety of games. This class introduces tennis to a young age group with an emphasis on fun! Suggested age range is 4 – 6, however class placement is based on skill level. No class 4/1.

This is a program for the true beginner to tennis using the USTA’s new innovative 10 & Under format. This class focuses on stroke mechanics using a variety of drills and games. Basic forehand, backhand, volley, and serve stroke mechanics will be introduced. Suggested age range is 6 – 8, however, class placement is based on skill level. No class 4/1.

This is a program designed for the player with a basic understanding of stroke mechanics whose contact and movement has improved. Using the more advanced version of the USTA’s QuickStart program, stroke mechanics will be reinforced on the age appropriate court. Suggested age range is 8 – 10, however class placement is based on skill level. No class 4/1.

This program is designed for players with an understanding of stroke mechanics. Clean contact is more regular for these players and they have begun to move to the ball with more confidence. This class focuses on stroke mechanics as well as introduces rallying with regular sized tennis balls on a full-length court. Suggested age range is 10 – 12, however class placement is based on skill level.

Do you have a pre-teen or teenager looking to start playing tennis but can’t find a class that fits his or her skill level AND age? Well, we have the class for you. This class will allow students ages 12-17 to learn the fundamentals of the game with kids their own age and skill level. Come join our TNT class and get your student off to a great start in tennis. Tennis Academy Select (Ages 13-18)
This is a program designed for the serious player who will be playing competitive tennis for either their high school team or in USTA tournaments. A live ball approach will be used to help players develop their game and learn strategy. Please contact the Owl Creek Tennis Center at (757) 227-3573 for current class schedule.
Center Policies for Classes
Make-up Policy for Junior Classes – No credits or refunds will be given for missed classes. With prior permission, a student may make up a maximum of (1) class missed by attending another day the class is offered. The additional day must be made up in the same session. This is applicable only if the class is being offered on another day.
Refund Policy for Classes – Full refunds will be given outside of (7) days of the start of the class. Inside of (7) days but before the start of the class will be refunded at 50% of the registration fee. No refunds will be given once a class begins.
Payment for Classes
In order to receive the discounted full class price for classes, payment for classes must be prepaid. Students without full registration will be charged the drop-in rate.
Make-up Policy for Camps
Students registered in any camps will be able to make up a maximum of one missed camp day in another week of camp, if available. No refunds or credits will be issued for missed camp days.
Cancellation Policy for Private Lessons
In order to provide staff with enough time to fill open court time, we are requiring 8 hours notice be given for cancelling private lessons and/or private clinics. This will allow pro’s and staff to move clients on waiting lists into available court times. Cancellations made inside of the 8 hour requirement will result in a charge to the account of the client. Cancellation charge is $35.00.
